Terrific Kids

Terrific Kids is a Kiwanis student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance.
“Terrific” is an acronym for Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable.
Students work with their classroom teacher to establish goals to improve leadership, behavior, peer relationships, attendance or school work.  Here are our second semester recipients:

Pancake Fundraiser
Sell those Tickets!

We hope that all of our parents and scholars are working hard to sell pancake tickets for WPA’s Pancake Fundraiser.  This fundraiser will benefit our scholars access to technology ~ at approximately $9,000.00 we can outfit another full 30 computer technology cart for our scholars!

4th Grade Leadership in Action

4th Grade Scholars, Anderson Cooper and Jerry Lucas led Leadership Activities during Electives this week.  The activity centered around what leaders are, what leaders do, and what leaders say.  Scholars paired up in teams and had to document on “sticky notes” their thoughts for each category.  The Grade Level Team participated in the activity and look forward to highlighting the leadership thoughts shared by the scholars.

Critical Incident Drill

With the assistance of Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, WPA completed a Critical Incident Drill today at approximately 2:20p.  Teachers and scholars did a fantastic responding to the drill and remaining calm and quiet!
