This week, Mrs. Olson’s Math Monsters practiced their synergizing skills to build miniature roller coasters during science. Scholars were placed into groups of three and were challenged to practice one of our 7 Habits, Habit 6, Synergize. Habit 6 focuses on teamwork and valuing the strengths of others. It emphasizes that we can produce better results when working together. Each group was given three paper plates and was instructed to build a roller coaster using the plates and items found around the classroom. After the roller coaster was complete, scholars were given a marble to test the track. This activity was also a way to test what we have been learning in our current unit, Forces and Motion. We have been focusing on motion, speed, and acceleration. Roller coasters are such fun and great examples of forces and motion!
