During the month of November our 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Tatum headed up an oppurtuinty for Wayne Prep to give to our local military services. Our scholars collected and brought in items to send to Airmen who are serving overseas. The scholars were also given the opportunity to make cards during art and their free time. The scholars brought in over twenty paper grocery bags full of toiletries, small snacks, small books and games, and other small gifts. As a school, the scholars made over five hundred cards. On December 2, service members from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base came to the school to pick up what we had collected. The scholars were able to hear from the service members how much these gifts would mean to the men and women serving overseas. All involved were blessed by this experience, and this served as an excellent way to teach the scholars the true meaning of the Holidays: GIVING
