from Dr. Forgette

WPA Parents,

Thank you for another exciting year at Wayne Preparatory Academy.  This year brought exciting changes in academic administration and the introduction of plans for our Middle School Building (visit the Facilities Tab).   As we continue to grow I look forward to creating more opportunities for parents to be involved with the school.  Over the Summer we will be focused on finalizing our Math Improvement Plan and addressing procedures such as: teacher communication, scholar homework, report cards, cottage preparation, Kindergarten facility, and the athletic field.  I hope to see everyone over the summer at popsicle in the park (date to be announced).

Have a great summer!

4th Semester Terrific Kids

Terrific Kids is a student-recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance.  “Terrific” is an acronym for Thoughtful, EnthusiasticRespectfulResponsibleInclusiveFriendly,Inquisitive, and Capable.” (kiwaniskids.org)

The Terrific Kids program was introduced to Wayne Preparatory Academy and facilitated by Mrs. Kristi Aycock.  Each 9 weeks teachers recognize 1 scholar from each of their classrooms that has displayed leadership skills that result in a TERRIFIC Kid.  The teachers write a description as to how the scholar they chose displayed TERRIFIC behavior.  On the designated recognition day, Administration and Kiwanis representative deliver awards to classrooms and read the descriptions written by teachers.

As you can imagine this was an exciting and emotional event ~ the power of positive reinforcement and precise praise written by teachers then read to scholars was precious!  Congratulations to all of our TERRIFIC scholars.
